| River Island part II |
Just did the second day of work. Started from 1 till closing. Today( sunday) was okay, compared to Sat cause there were less people. Well i can say that busy in terms of retail is quite different from the F&B say if u work in a restaurant. In a restaurant when its peak period you get customers on every table and there are definitely tasks that must be completed. For eg. people will expect to be served, food on the table, cutlery set, bills sent. Not to mention the heaps of dishes to be washed.
But in retail its more like you either serve the customer, they help themselves, or they ask for your help in layman's terms. So you attend to a customer while the rest just try on the sizes themselves, and when they need help they will call you. Its much simpler and less stressful. So in a way, peak period in retail i can still breathe, not panic and get all fed up. But walking back and forth, in and out of the storeroom is tiring though.
At the end of the day theres only so much to do. Attend to customers, arrange the stuff, stock up. Boring no? At least in the bar i could mix the drinks and always have things to do and not stand there and pretend to be doing something.
Oh well, for the higher pay..
The store does have a distintive smell. Kinda like fresh leather? Or maybe from where im stationed at, all i smell is the ladies footwear and accessories. Ever wonder why people need to have leather shoes or bags? I mean, we're not living like Tarzan and Jane right, and there are a lot of new alternatives like lycra, rubber, polyester etc. Can you imagine a cow having shoes made out of human skin? Now you are cringing and saying thats cruel. Oh but i do have leather for the watch strap though. :( I'll just wait for it to spoil and get a new non-leather watch.
Work work work! I wanna work more cause when the pay check comes.. I wonder how much more i'll get from this job. My baby's starting tomorrow! How exciting. I wonder how is it going to be for us in the same store. Is it going to be awkward or convenient? At least on some days we might get to go back together, i hope.
